First Mobile Meditations is the solo instrumental project of guitarist Al Ingram, inspired by minimalist music and shaped by the experience of living with long covid. This energy-limiting condition necessitates a less-is-more approach, while encouraging open-ended exploration.
Channelled through tape delay and plate reverb, fragmented chords, phrases and sounds cascade, chime and breathe, rippling onwards and outwards to form mysterious landscapes of intrigue, discovery and reflection.
The name First Mobile is borrowed from Ursula le Guin’s novel The Left Hand of Darkness, in which the emissary Ai embarks on a transformative journey through alien terrain.
